Monart Class Descriptions

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS-
   Getting Ready, Basic Drawing, Intermediate Drawing are guided drawing classes using the Monart methodof directed drawing where the teacher draws and then the students draw. Projects include buildings, human form, portraits, flowers, still life, vehicles, animals, and characters are drawn with the teacher.  Various media are used: liquid watercolors, pastel chalk, graphite, colored pencil, oil pastels, and markers.  Some creative 3-D activities are added to the curriculum to enchance the drawings done. 

Getting Ready and Basic Drawing4 1/2 to 7 1/2 yrs.  1 hour class
 
A representational drawing class geared to the attention span and motor coordiation of preschool and early elementary students.  Children master the ability to recognize the elements of shape, and use them in drawing projects, with direction from the instructor, designed for their age.  Creativity is encouraged.

Intermediate Drawing- 8 yrs. to Adults; 1 1/2 hour class
 A guided drawing class that uses the Monart method and challenges students to expand their drawing skills with projects that are more complex than Getting Ready and Basic Drawing.  Children and adults gain confidence in realistic drawing while developing their own style and creativity.  Students are also encouraged to create independent projects using various resources like those students taking Independent Study classes.  Creativity is always encouraged.

Independent Studies I & II- Teens, Adults, and previous recommended students;
        Independent Studies I-1 1/2 hour class;
Independent Studies II- 2 hour class
  
Students create their own projects using various resources with advanced techniques 
taught in oil pastels, pastel chalk, charcoal, pen and ink, scratchboard, oil painting, colored pencil, mixed media, figure drawing, portrait drawing and painting, still life, and perspective.  Individual style and creativity are encouraged.
